Food Revolution Day Series #FRD2014

By on May 6, 2014

On May 16th, for the 3rd year, the Food Revolution Day campaign will be held.  It is a world-wide movement to encourage kids, family, everybody in school, organization, everywhere to eat healthy and cook from scratch.

As a mother myself, I totally agree with the message that Jamie Oliver is trying to spread.  It is our duty, as parent, to teach the basics to our kids: how fruits and vegetables grow and understanding nature, learn how to cook and bake and enjoying healthy meals and snacks.

FRD2014 Growing a garden

I encourage you to go and visit  www.foodrevolutionday.com and pick what you will do to be part of it!  You can do something with your co-workers, at school or at home, it can be a recipe, discover a new vegetable.

Can I put candles on a quiche? Letter to my little brother…

By on February 5, 2014

Well, he is not so little anymore, today he is turning 17…  I still remember that day what he was born, it was a Wednesday too.  Life happens so fast, specially since I left France.

It is one of the heart-breaking part of being 6000kms away from your family…  You do not get to share happy moments, you do not get to bake them a birthday cake, or know what exactly to get for them…   You are far, he has grown, he is not a little boy anymore.  It is sad to be missing somebody like that, it is like if you heart has an open wound. My little brother, I wish you a ”Bon anniversaire” and hope you are having a great day!  This is one more cake I owe you, you better make some room in your stomach one day!  I miss you and I am a proud big sister, you have become a handsome man and I wish you all the best for the years to come!   In the meantime, have a blast, I love you!

Don’t judge a book by its cover because those Croque-Monsieurs are delicious!

By on January 30, 2014

There are some food that, even if there are tasty, it is hard to make them look appetizing…   The Croque-Monsieur that follow is not the most appealing one.  Plus, my picture is not recent, I would have done it differently maybe but still… not that good looking.  I am working on it!  Certain meals or dessert are sometimes difficult to take a picture of but it is my role to make you want to try them.  One that one, I hope you will give those Croque-Monsieur a try, sooo worth it!

Now that you know how to do a bechamel, it is going to be an easy and quick recipe!  And, since it is Superbowl season and finger are trendy, you HAVE to give it a chance.

Discover my kitchen philosophy and my Arancinis!

By on January 10, 2014

I am no chef.  Just a mom that loves to cook for her family.  And if there is one thing i do not believe in is that there is an ‘official’ version of a recipe.  Each person can do according to their own taste, means, allergies and imagination.  Oh and according to your time too, important factor in my house.

I would like to share a recipe that is definitely not how Italians would do it and they would ‘boo’ me.  I am okay with that and you know why? Because my kids and whomever tried it, loved it!

I love the recipe because it is a different alternative to the usual pastas, rice and potatoes.  Kids, toddlers and even husbands need to be seduced at the table.  You can even prepare it with the kids, they’ll love it.

What are those?  There are little breaded balls of rice stuffed with cheese.  Well, normally, in Italy, they use the risotto leftovers.  Oh well…
