8 things to do to feel like it’s summer in Provence

By on September 7, 2015

Last day before back to school? Let’s talk about vacations…. I am all emotional that my baby is going to SK so let’s change the conversation, right?

As the summer is wrapping up, I want to enjoy the last bit of sun on my skin, a few more outdoor meals but most of all, keep that warmth in my heart that I brought back from France.

We went to the South, in Provence, for 2 weeks and it was hot, relaxing and full of love. The children enjoyed every little bit of their trip. French vacations for the win!
Summer in Provence 1 – Eat like every day is your last day: To a certain extend… Stay healthy and moderate. BUT do not think that certain things are to be eaten or drunk on special occasion. TODAY is special! We were in France with our family, it was amazing. Needless to say that (cough) our pants shrank under the sun!  But we ENJOYED!

2 – Eat local, fresh and seasonal: Fresh strawberries from the garden for breakfast? YES! Biting in a juicy tomato in the garden? YES! It is tastier and kids snaked on beautiful crops. Enough said.

3 –  Have an apéritif: See #1, today is special, have a nice glass of wine with your loved one, a fresh beer. Stay safe, don’t drive. Cheering to awesome vacations! Santé! Special recommendation: Pineau des Charentes, Pastis. Ma favs.

7 tips to menu planning and money saving

By on October 2, 2014

Are you a superwoman or a superman?  Yeah, me neither! Ah.  I wish though, it would be nice and help on a daily basis!   Be a hero, save lives, fly or whatever my superpower would be…   Well, well, well…  Sorry to break it to you but none of it exists.

I have a question that I do get asked quite often though:  How you find time to blog (recipe testing, photographing, editing and writing) and work full-time and 2 kids at home?  Mhh… Are you ready for the answer?  I don’t know.

7 tips menu planning

The blogging part, I am still trying to figure it out…  I am having a hard time sticking to a posting schedule and my will to sleep generally takes over anything.  I need to work on it, I know it, I will eventually figure out a rhythm that works better for me.

At home, scheduling my menu has helped us a lot: Listing meal for the week allows us to have a more relaxing week and buy smarter.  I have gathered a few tips that I hope will help you smoothing out your daily routine and wallet.

Triple sec rainbow cocktail in 5 minutes!

By on July 15, 2014

Let’s call it this way!  It was a rainbow before it went in the blender.   Bright sweet-smelling yellow pineapple, red juicy watermelon, the blue flavorful blueberries and… AND the cool green mint.  See?  A rainbow.

Triple sec cocktail

Yesterday, it was Monday, it was Bastille Day for French people so I figured that a boozy cocktail, a few crackers and cheese would be a perfect way to make a happy hour and start the week.

Meat balls with my little chef #FRD2014

By on May 8, 2014

Are you part of the Food Revolution Day #FRD2014 campaign  yet?  It is a wonderful project that Jamie Oliver is leading.  In case you are not familiar about it yet, I invite you to visit the website where you will find all you need to know about May 16th: www.foodrevolutionday.com

It is worldwide.  100 countries and 105,000 participants have already signed up for Food Revolution Day! There are different ways to be part of it.  It does not have to be big, it can be something you are doing at home, at school or at work and share it with #FRD2014.

My Food Revolution Series started with our little garden to get our kids more conscious as to where the vegetables come from and how it grow.  They are so impatient to see starting to grow, they have been watering it everyday and our son is asking when the cucumbers will be ready to eat.  Not as yet!

Today, I want to share with you a cooking session with my son!  We made meat balls.  He really enjoy it, adding all the ingredients together.

Food Revolution Day Series #FRD2014

By on May 6, 2014

On May 16th, for the 3rd year, the Food Revolution Day campaign will be held.  It is a world-wide movement to encourage kids, family, everybody in school, organization, everywhere to eat healthy and cook from scratch.

As a mother myself, I totally agree with the message that Jamie Oliver is trying to spread.  It is our duty, as parent, to teach the basics to our kids: how fruits and vegetables grow and understanding nature, learn how to cook and bake and enjoying healthy meals and snacks.

FRD2014 Growing a garden

I encourage you to go and visit  www.foodrevolutionday.com and pick what you will do to be part of it!  You can do something with your co-workers, at school or at home, it can be a recipe, discover a new vegetable.
